About Me

Growing up very few things ever made me feel as great as music does. Much of my childhood was spent in my oldest brother’s room listening to him play Nirvana, Soundgarden, Soul Asylum, and Pearl Jam. By the age of 7, I already had the music taste of a mid-nineties high school student.

As I continued to grow up, my parents music tastes would start to take hold. From my mom cleaning the living room singing Michael Jackson, to my dads Willie Nelson wake up calls. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I discovered records. The feeling I got holding something actually from the past was electric. Discovering records turned listening to music to an event for me.

There is something about holding a used record that really gets to me. Being able to stare at the album art and pull out the lyrics makes it a fully engaging experience. This is why I created the Spin the Black Circle blog. I want share what I have learned through my twenty years of discovering music. Too often I run into people who have little or no knowledge of these classic works of art.

Just as my parents and my brothers did for me, I want to lead readers to music I feel they should be paying attention to. Cause if there’s anything I know for sure, it’s that music connects people.
